The Eddie Steamship Group started providing services to the maritime industry in 1912 as C. Eddie & Co., a ship chandler company providing stores, provisions and coal to steamships in the busy port of Shanghai. In 1927 Eddie Steamship Co. Ltd. was formed and became ship owners and operators and has been in continuous operation ever since.

Over the past century our area of business in shipping has changed several times.  From the 1920's to the end of the 1940's we operated mainly passenger and general cargo ships along the coast of China.  In the 1950's (after our move from Shanghai to Taipei), through to the early 1970's we operated mainly general cargo vessels with worldwide liner services.  From the late 1970's until now we have concentrated in the owning and operation of bulk carriers with sizes ranging from handysize 35,000mt dwt upto capesize and newcastlemaxes of 210,000mt dwt.  Throughout the decades we have always strived to deliver our cargos promptly and in good order to our charterers and end receivers.  Our charterers over the years have included major mineral resource importers such as  China Steel Corp., Taiwan Power Company, Baoshan Steel, Cobelfret, Klaveness, KEPCO and Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group.

We do all the commercial management of our owned vessels with an experienced team in our chartering department. We also have a subsidiary company, WayEast Shipping Agency Co. Ltd., which has a full team that does the technical and regulatory compliance management of all our ships in-house so that our fleet and crews complies with the highest international standards.

Going forward into our second century, we look forward to expanding our investments and partnerships with our friends in the international maritime industry.
